Sub-Projects – Theme 3 – Socio-cultural integration
Sub-project "eHealth" – E-Health and Telemedicine in cross-border hospital cooperation and health care
General description of the project
The lack of interoperability between the health-care systems in the European Union is still an important obstacle to the European Integration process and especially obvious in border regions, where different administrative and legal systems meet. The provision of cross-border health care is in particular a challenge for regions with intensive cross-border patient mobility. Information- and Communication Technologies can help health care providers to facilitate data transfer and medical communication and thus reduce border-related barriers.
The four partner regions – bringing together relevant experience in cross-border health care – seek to explore the possibilities of these so called "e-Health" applications across borders and exchange experience on the partners’ needs, problems and solutions in that field. As a result, good practices and recommendations on how differences in health care systems, communication technology and legislation can be overcome will be produced.
